One of the important characters you will get to play as in the game is Ajonah, the lithe and intrepid guerrilla warrior who serves as a long-range sniper in your team. Hidden out of sight with her dangerous harpoon rifle, she can certainly wreak serious havoc upon enemy troops. Given below is our detailed guide about the abilities and upgrades available for Ajonah’s character in Crucible. So the players looking out for such guides should look nowhere else. Let’s start without any further ado.

Ajonah Character Abilities and Upgrades

In the game, Ajonah possesses three special abilities which we will be covering up ahead. First, it should be mentioned that you can use her main weapon while looking down the sights, or even from the hip. Looking down the sights does hinder your movements a bit, but it also results in greater accuracy and higher damage dealt with the target.

First Ability: The Grappling Hook

This handy tool can be attached to the nearby walls or even the ground and used to propel Ajonah up into the air. The resulting distance covered by her is significantly large. Therefore, this technique can be used for reaching otherwise out of reach places or escaping dangerous situations. Apart from this, it comes with two grapple charges if you choose the Tidal Reach essence at level one or higher. These charges can be fired off and thrown into the air one at a time, increasing the overall distance. Remember, however, that they require time to cool down. Once you reach the fourth level, Ajonah will obtain the power of invisibility after using this.

Second Ability: The Jamming Shroud

Upon activating this, Ajonah will thrust the shroud onto the ground in front of her. This will result in her being surrounded by a small sphere that will make her area undetectable by prowling foes. This can be used to your advantage for concealing her position. Once you reach the second level, striking an active jamming shroud will produce a powerful explosion and cause serious damage to enemies in the vicinity.

Third Ability: The Squid Mine

When activated, these innovative mines will attach themselves onto a surface, waiting for unsuspecting foes to wander by them. When that happens, the mines leap at them and explode, impeding them. Reaching the fifth level will give you the opportunity to enhance the impeding effect of the squid mines.

Additional hints

Of course, there are interesting combinations of these abilities that can help you gain the upper hand in battle. The grappling hook can be used to move swiftly across the terrain and beat your allies in reaching the objectives. After that, you can conceal your location from prying eyes using the jamming shroud. This allows you to prepare an ideal spot to snipe at unsuspecting enemies at spots which they will inevitably have to pass through.

You also have the option of setting a trap of mines near the objectives, catching them off guard, and impeding their movements. This will allow you to quickly close the distance using your grappling hook, and lay waste to their troops before they can recover. Optimizing your grapple charges alongside will also come in handy.

Essence Upgrades of Ajonah

Crucible provides five levels of essence upgrades for each Hunter. In the case of Ajonah, the first, third, and fifth levels give her the opportunity to select different upgrades. The upgrades themselves are quite varied and can be used in accordance with your preferences for this character.

Level One

At this level, you will be able to choose between Expanded Quiver, Sea’s Bounty, and Tidal Reach. We suggest choosing either Sea’s Bounty or Tidal Reach from these options. Choosing Expanded Quiver will allow Ajonah to fire two additional shots from her harpoon. On the other hand, choosing Sea’s Bounty will provide you with an additional squid mine and also allow you to throw these at far greater distances. This can help you stack the deck in your favor while throwing yourself into the fray. Likewise, those of you who would prefer Ajonah to keep a reliable means of escape in handy could consider choosing Tidal Reach. This will grant her an additional charge on her grappling hook.

It should be mentioned that you will receive the same upgrade at the second level every time. Choosing it will let you detonate an active jamming shroud and injure any foes lying inside it.

Level Three

Once you get to this level, you will be able to choose between Dazzling Burst, Heal in Shadows, and Safe Harbour. This time, all of these are powerful choices worth meticulous consideration. If you can deal a critical hit to your enemies’ heads with your rifle, Dazzling Burst will temporarily render them blind. Heal in Shadows is a highly useful upgrade that gives Ajonah the ability to replenish 20 units of health every second when in the stealth mode. If you and your allies are present inside a jamming shroud, then using Safe Harbour will boost your speed by ten per cent.

Heal in Shadows is possibly the most favorable of these options because the abundance of vegetation in the game’s terrain forces you to enter stealth mode anyway. Choosing this upgrade, therefore, will heal you as a bonus when you do so. Ajonah’s level four upgrade renders her invisible when she is using her grappling hook. That said, if you are seeking to assist your teammates, then Safe Harbour could be your upgrade of choice. Those of you with a more aggressive approach can wreak some serious havoc among your enemies using Dazzling Burst.

Level five

On reaching this level, you will get to choose between the last two essence upgrades for Ajonah. These are Neurotoxic Venom and Strike to the Head. The former will enhance the impeding effect of squid mines on enemies. If you like to set up these mines as traps for foes or rely a lot on critical hits, then this upgrade could be right up to your alley. On the other hand, Strike to the Head boosts the critical hit multiplier from 2.5 to 3. This will cause additional damage when you land headshots. Thus, those of you skilled at that can check out this one.

An important point to keep in mind is that Ajonah’s comparatively lower health and strength make her a rather poor choice for head-on combat with enemies. Remember that she is, first and foremost, a guerrilla warrior. So make use of her skills and try to ambush your opponents from a safe distance. Wait for your teammates to cover for you when needed.
